My journey to becoming a massage therapist commenced with a personal experience. After many years of having pain and limited movement in my shoulders, neck and back, my chiropractor recommended that I try having a sports massage.
This transformed my life and I decided that I would like to be able to offer the same for others.
In 2002 I started training at Mid Kent College in Rochester. I qualified in Body Massage in 2003 and in Sports Massage and Reflexology the following year.
I practiced as a mobile massage therapist whilst continuing to work full time in an administrative role with the local council. My passion for therapeutic work got the better of me and in 2014 I went to part time hours to be able to devote more time to my massage work. Finally in 2017 I moved to working full time as Sharon's Bodywork Clinic.
In 2013 I attended a Federation of Holistic Therapies learning congress in Birmingham and saw a Thai Yoga Massage being given. As a consequence of a taster session I started training with the Cheltenham School of Yoga in 2014. I qualified in Northern Style Thai Massage in late 2014 and in 2015 I continued my training with a two day workshop in London with Kira Balaskas of the London School of massage, and Bob Haddad who lives in America and teaches in both Thailand and America.
I continue to attend traiing courses. In 2016 I trained with an Osteopath in Myofascial Release, Posture Analysis, Understanding and treating neck pain, Lower back pain and Sciatica and finally in 2017 Kinesiology taping.
